News Bar Owners Alliance of San Francisco Votes to Require Proof of Vaccination for Indoor Service
The Bar Owners Alliance of San Francisco voted today in favor of requiring vaccination proof or a recent negative test to enter all of its member bars starting Thursday, July 29. The Alliance represents more than 500 bar owners in the city.

News UK On-Premise Sales Down as Restrictions Remain in Place. US Trending Above 2019
On-premise sales in the UK for the week ending June 26th were down by 28% on the same week in 2019, according to the CGA’s Drinks Recovery Tracker. It is the third week in a row that the comparison with 2019 has weakened. The UK has stalled the full reopening of the on-premise sector due to an increase in COVID cases. The government has said that most restrictions on bars and restaurants should end on July 17th.

News Bars in SF Threaten to Boycott Reyes Beverage Over Lack of Service
More than 80 bars in San Francisco have signed onto a letter to the Miller Coors distributor Golden Brands complaining of poor customer service. Golden Brands, which is a branch of Reyes Holdings, also sells a large number of craft brands.

News On Premise Optimism: No Signs of Cannibalism in Take-Out & Delivery as Restaurants Roars Back to Life
Take out and delivery of meals and drinks during the pandemic became a well-developed habit for many consumers. Some in the industry worried that consumers might become so comfortable with eating take-out at home that it would cannibalize on-site business. That doesn’t seem to be the case according to data from CGA, the on-premise measurement, research and insight company.

News On-Premise Sales Surpassing 2019 Numbers
As expected, on-premise alcohol sales are far ahead of 2020 due to the shut down one year ago. On-premise velocity is +120% higher than the same time last year for the one-week period ending May 29, according to the on-premise consulting firm CGA.

News Reopening: A Third of All Bars and Restaurants Now Open for Indoor Service Across the Country
The latest COVID-19 Impact Report for the on-premise trade from CGA shows that 36% of all restaurants and 32% of all bars across the country are now either partially or completely open for indoor seating and service.

News Legislation to Allow USPS to Ship Beer is Introduced in Congress
Legislation was introduced yesterday in Washington DC that would allow the USPS to ship alcohol in states where it is currently legal to do. The United States Postal Service (USPS) Shipping Equity Acy was introduced by Representatives Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) and Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.), and Senator Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.).

News On-Premise is Open! Restaurants and Bars Open for Indoor Business in All States
For the first time since the pandemic began over a year ago, the country is “by and large completely ‘open’ again according to CGA, the on-premise sales measurement firm. Their research also shows that there are no states left where you cannot make an indoor on-premise visit of some kind. Capacity and other restrictions still apply in many states, but 98% of states have bars open indoors to some capacity and 100% of states have restaurants open indoors to some capacity.

News Southern Glazer to Distribute Cannabis Drink from Canopy
Canopy Growth Corporation has signed up Southern Glazers as their wholesaler for their CBD-infused beverage line, Qautreau. The move is another indication that the alcohol distribution tier is willing and ready to add cannabis-related beverages to their portfolios.

News On-Premise Opening Continues with Bars Back Open in All States
Bars are now allowed to be opened in all 50 states across the country according to the latest Nielsen CGA survey report. 30% of the states are fully open with no restrictions and 66% of the states have capacity limits. 4% of the states, including California, allow only outdoor service.

News Georgia Bill Would Double Direct-to-Consumer Sales Cap
Senate Bill 219, which is making its way through the Georgia General Assembly, would allow the state’s breweries to transfer beer between locations and increase the amount of beer per year breweries can sell directly to customers.
