News Samuel Adams Accepting Applications for ‘Brewing & Business Experienceship’
Samuel Adams is inviting brewers nationwide to apply for its annual Brewing & Business Experienceship, offering mentorship for craft brewery founders through its philanthropy program, Brewing the American Dream. In its effort to support food and beverage entrepreneurs nationwide, each year the Experienceship offers one up-and-coming craft brewer the opportunity to access resources and support from Boston Beer Co. staff. The program culminates in a collaboration beer release brewed together with the brewers at Samuel Adams Boston Brewery.

News New Belgium Buys Constellation Brewery in Virginia
New Belgium Brewing has announced that it will acquire the Constellation brewery in Daleville, Virginia. In addition to brewing its own brands at the site, New Belgium has reached an agreement a contract brew Constellation brands as well.

News Jury Decides in Favor of Constellation in Legal Case of ‘Is Hard Seltzer Considered Beer’
In a court case being watched closely by those in the alcohol beverage industry, a Manhattan federal jury found that Constellation Brands did not violate a U.S. distribution agreement with Anheuser-Busch InBev SA by selling hard seltzers branded with the Modelo and Corona names.

News Sierra Nevada Invests in RIOT Energy Drink
Sierra Nevada Brewing Company has made a minority investment in Riot Energy, an organic energy drinks brand from Venice, Calif. Sierra Nevada is expected to produce and package the brand at its, CanDo Innovation Center, which is slated to begin operations this summer. It is only the second time that Sierra Nevada has invested in another beverage company.

News California Bill Would Allow Spirit-based RTD’s to be Sold Alongside Beer and Wine
A bill in California supported by the Distilled Spirits Council (DISCUSS) would allow retailers with a beer and wine license to also sell spirit-based RTD’s, a move which would further blur the line that has traditionally existed between spirits and beer and wine.

News High Country Hop Festival to Celebrate Australian 2023 Hop Harvest
High Country Hop, the annual celebration of the Australian hop harvest is returning in its ninth year with Firestone Walker brewmaster Matt Brynildson joining some of Australia’s top craft brewers. Brynildson will be the keynote speaker at the event’s technical symposium ahead of the festival.

News Falconer Foundation Offering Full Scholarship to Siebel Institute Concise Course
In collaboration with the Seibel Institute of Technology, the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation is offering a full-tuition brewing education scholarship in 2023. The scholarship is a full tuition grant and comes with a travel and lodging stipend.

News Boston Beer to Air Super Bowl Ad Touting ‘Remastered’ Sam Adams
Boston Beer Company has recently announced the launch of a “remastered” Samuel Adams Boston Lager, which the company will feature in an ad that includes comedian Lenny Clarke and former Celtics player Kevin Garnett. A 30-second version of the ad will air during the Super Bowl broadcast on February 12th.

News Drought Puts Pressure on Mexican Brewing Industry
The rains have come to California, but much of the Western U.S. remains in a severe drought. In Mexico, the prolonged drought has amplified concerns that large breweries are using precious water to make beer that is exported out to other countries.

News Spirits Pass Beer in Supplier Sales Market Share for First Time

Distilled spirits market share in the U.S. has surpassed beer for the first time, growing supplier sales market share for the 13th straight year up to 42.1%. The growth puts spirits just slightly ahead of beer at the end of 2022, with beer posting a market share of 41.9%.
