News New Belgium Buys Constellation Brewery in Virginia

New Belgium Brewing has announced that it will acquire the Constellation brewery in Daleville, Virginia. In addition to brewing its own brands at the site, New Belgium has reached an agreement a contract brew Constellation brands as well.

New Belgium, which is owned by Japan’s Kirin Holdings, shipped 1.2 million barrels in 2022, the company’s best shipment volume year ever according to the company. Since buying New Belgium in late 2019, Kirin has said they intend to further develop their beverage profile in the US. The site may be utilized to produce new non-beer products that Kirin develops for the US market.

The 259,000 square foot facility was first opened in 2017 by San Diego-based Ballast Point Brewing, as its East Coast hub. The facility was taken over by Constellation when they bought Ballast Point in 2019.

New Belgium has said that all current employees will stay on.
