News Milwaukee Craft Brewer MobCraft Announces Plan to Add 10 New Locations
MobCraft Beer Inc. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin has said it plans to open as many as 10 locations by 2025. The company known for its, shall we say, unusual beers, such as Fruity Pebble cereal-inspired milkshake IPA, has targeted three immediate locations for expansion; Waterford, Wisconsin, Denver, Colorado and Woodstock, Illinois.

News And the Winners Are….BA Awards 290 Medals During the 35th Annual GABF
The Brewers Association (BA) awarded 290 medals to 265 breweries across the country during the 35th annual Great American Beer Festival (GABF). The awards ceremony was held in Denver on Friday evening during the Craft Brewers Conference which concluded yesterday.

News Boston Beer Subsidiary to Launch Cannabis-Infused Beverages in Canada
Entourage Health Corp., a Canadian producer and distributor of cannabis products and brands announced that its subsidiary and license holder WeedMD RX Inc. has signed an agreement with BBCCC, Inc., a subsidiary of the Boston Beer Company to launch a new portfolio of non-alcoholic cannabis-infused beverages in Canada.

News Stone Brewing to Increase Capacity at Richmond Brewery to Meet Export and Seltzer Demand
Five years after opening its Richmond brewery, Stone Brewing Co. is planning to add more production capacity and introduce several new beverage products to the market. The expansion project will give the brewery a 25% to 30% increase in capacity. The facility currently has a capacity of 150,000 barrels a year.

News Is The Hard Seltzer Boom Over?
Boston Beer announced last week in their quarterly financial statement that sales for Truly hard seltzer were significantly lower than expected and dropped their target sales for the balance of the year. The announcement immediately triggered some in the industry to ponder if the meteoric rise of the hard seltzer category has come to an end. Even the mainstream press jumped in, with CNN posting the headline, “The hard seltzer craze has come to an end.”

News Boston Beer Depletions Up 24% in Second Quarter – Net Earnings Down as Truly Misses Expectations
The Boston Beer Company reported second quarter 2021 net revenue of $602.8 million, an increase of $150.7 million or 33.3%, from the same period last year. Net income for the second quarter was $59.2 million, a decrease of $0.9 million or 1.6% from the same period last year.

News Cannabis in a Can? Dale Katechis Joins Veritas Fine Cannabis
Oskar Blues owner and founder Dale Katechis, who broke open the dam holding back craft beer in cans by being one of the first (probably the first) craft brewer to package craft beer in cans over 20 years ago has now jumped over to the cannabis industry by joining Veritas Fine Cannabis as an investing partner.

News Sweetwater to Expand West with Opening of New Brewery in Ft. Collins
Georgia-based Sweetwater Brewery announced that they have purchased the brewery and 32,450 square foot building that previously housed Red Truck Brewing Company in Ft. Collins, CO. The new facility will provide them with capacity to expand the Sweetwater brand to west coast markets.

News Seismic Brewing Takes on Reyes in High Stakes Legal Battle

Seismic Brewing is taking on Reyes Holdings, the largest beer wholesaler in the country and the eighth-largest private company in the United States, in a dispute that could daylight the power and leverage that large distributors hold over craft brewers. Reyes filed suit against Seismic after the Santa Rosa, California brewer refused to move their brands from DBI Distributing to Reyes after Reyes acquired DBI. Seismic then filed a cross complaint against Reyes.
