News Reyes on the Rampage – Buys Another California Distributor
Reyes Beer Division, the largest beer wholesaler in the country, made yet another acquisition in California this week by acquiring Elyxir Distributing, the MillerCoors house in the Monterey and Santa Cruz county area. Elyxir has a deep craft portfolio with such brands as Boston Beer, Sierra Nevada, New Belgium, Stone, 21st Amendment and others.

News Mobile Canning Companies Help Keep Brewers Afloat
With brewery tasting rooms shut down in most states since mid-March, those breweries which depend on their on-premise sales for most if not all of their revenue have struggled the most. With no outlets to sell kegged beer to, mobile canning companies have come to the rescue.

News Memorial Day Holiday is Second Biggest Weekend for Beer Sales
Memorial Day weekend is #2 only to Fourth of July for beer sales. But the spike in sales is almost certain to be smaller than usual this year due to the pandemic. According to an article in CNBC, consumers are drinking more at home, but that isn’t enough to offset lost sales of beer at bars, restaurants and entertainment venues.

News After Reopening Taprooms Shouldn’t Expect a Rush of Returning Customers Immediately
Atlanta’s Monday Night Brewing did a survey of recent customers to gauge when they through they would return to taprooms. Especially interesting since breweries in Georgia are now allowed to be open, with many restrictions in place.

News Reyes on the Move with Another Acquisition in Calif.
Reyes Beverage Group has acquired yet another wholesaler in California, its third acquisition this year alone. The purchase of Bay Area Beverage, a MillerCoors and Constellation house in the East Bay follows on the heels of the acquisition of Saccani Beverage in Sacramento and Claypool Beverage in Southern California earlier this year. Last year Reyes also picked up DBI, W.A Thompson and Central Coast.

News Boulder Beer Back in Distribution
Just two weeks after pioneering Colorado brewery Boulder Beer Co. announced it would soon be shipping its last bottled products and selling beer only out of the brewery tap room, the brewery has struck an agreement with a nearby brewer to contract Boulder beer in package.

News AB Takes on More Distribution in California
According to industry sources, Markstein Beverage Co., an independent Anheuser-Busch wholesaler in San Diego county, California, has agreed to sell its key brands to AB. This will add to the existing AB-owned distribution footprints that AB already has in the state. AB is the largest distributor in California.

News Consolidation Continues – Mass AB Distribs Join Up
Massachusetts beer distribution company Quality Beverage announced today that it will acquire neighboring Williams Distributing. Both are Anheuser-Busch distributors and the combined company will be the largest distributor of AB in the state.

Glazer’s Beer and Beverage has purchased GLI Distributing of San Antonio, Texas. GLI is an “all other” wholesaler, a rare breed as consolidation in the middle tier has swept most small wholesalers into larger companies aligned with a major national brand.
