Massachusetts beer distribution company Quality Beverage announced today that it will acquire neighboring Williams Distributing. Both are Anheuser-Busch distributors and the combined company will be the largest distributor of AB in the state.
Terms of the transaction are not being disclosed.
The announcement is another in a continuing string of acquisitions in the middle tier as consolidation continues across the country.
“This is pretty typical across the county,” T. Conrad Wetterau, president and CEO of Quality Beverage told Mass Live. “People are rolling up smaller distributors around them in order to get larger. It gives us a more stable, stronger business in the long haul.” Quality Beverage covers Central Massachusetts with the AB portfolio and numerous craft brands including Sierra Nevada, New Belgium and Harpoon.
Williams Distributing has operated in Western Massachusetts since 1950, distributing Constellation and many of the same craft brands as Quality.
