News Stone Brewing’s Win in Trademark Case May Not Solve Financial Problems
Late week a jury awarded Stone Brewing $56 million in damages against MolsonCoors in conclusion of a four-year trademark infringement lawsuit. Although it was most likely the largest settlement for trademark infringement ever in the beer industry, it may not solve Stone Brewing’s financial problems,

News Spirits Industry Ramps Up Effort to Allow Direct-to-Consumer Shipping
The American Craft Spirits Association (ACSA), American Distilling Institute (ADI) and Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS), three trade associations representing distillers large and small, joined forces to launch “Ship My Spirits,” a coalition with the goal of modernizing the spirits marketplace by allowing direct-to-consumer shipping of distilled spirits, specifically targeting New York state where the New York legislature is currently considering two bills, S4245-A/A3275-A and S556/A2513 which would permanently allow distillers to ship their spirits products directly to adult consumers.

News Stone CEO Acknowledges $464 Million Debt to Investor in Court Case Against MillerCoors
San Diego-based Stone Brewing owes its investor VMG/Hillhouse $464 million according to testimony by Stone CEO Maria Stipp in a court case against MillerCoors. In the lawsuit, Stone has claimed that the MC beer Keystone Light infringed Stone Brewing’s trademark when it rebranded the packaging in April 2017. Stone filed a lawsuit against MC in February of 2018.

News Survey Reveals Consumers Interest in Direct-to-Consumer Beer Sales
The interest and enthusiasm for direct-to-consumer (DTC) beer shipping has not waned in 2022, even as the past year has brought some relief from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report by Sovos ShipCompliant. The report included a survey by The Harris Poll and was conducted in partnership with the Brewers Association.

Writer Emma Wargolet has compiled a list of women-owned breweries across the United States. The list was put together with the help of PorchDrinking writers, Colorado Brewery List, the Pink Boots Society, various Hop Culture articles, and a diverse breweries database created by Jeff Alworth.

News Falconer Foundation Offering Concise Course Scholarship to Siebel Institute
In collaboration with the Seibel Institute of Technology, the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation is offering a full-tuition brewing education scholarship in 2022. The scholarship is a full tuition grant and comes with a travel and lodging stipend.

News AB InBev Projects Strong Growth in 2022 Despite Inflation Fears
