News Minnesota Passes Bill to Give Brewers and Distillers More Retail Allowances
After years of failed attempts to modernize some of the state’s restrictive alcohol laws, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed into law yesterday the ‘Free the Growler’ bill that will allow breweries up to 150,000 barrels in annual production to offer growler sales, up from the current 20,000-barrel cap.

News Chris Jackson of Seismic Brewing to Purchase Golden State Cider
Chris Jackson, founder and president of Seismic Brewing Company in Santa Rosa, CA has announced that he and his wife Ariel will purchase Golden State Cider of Healdsburg. The cidery was founded 10 years ago and uses locally grown apples for its production.

News 2022 World Beer Cup Winners Announced
It’s a wrap. The 2022 Craft Brewers Conference (CBC) and World Beer Cup (WBC) have concluded in Minneapolis with a projected 10,000 attendees. The Brewers Association handed out 307 awards to breweries from 57 different states in the largest WBC to date with over 10,000 entries.

News BA Announces 2022 Industry Award Winners at CBC
The Brewers Association announced the recipients of its 2022 Industry Awards. Five members of the brewing community were recognized and awarded for their dedication and service during the Craft Brewers Conference in Minneapolis, Minn. The Brewers Association has been recognizing individuals who inspire, defend, and innovate within the craft brewing industry since 1987. New this year was the addition of the Mentor of the Year Award to recognize volunteers who provided outstanding guidance through the fledgling Brewers Association mentorship program and championed those who experience barriers to access and advancement in their professional journeys.

News BA-Defined Craft Beer Grows by 8% in 2021 – Overall Beer Market Up 1%
The Brewers Association (BA) announced that BA-defined craft breweries grew by 8% in 2021. Total production was 24.8 million barrels of beer and craft beer market share grew to 13.1%, up from 12.2% the previous year.

Moonlight Brewing Company, the iconic 30-year old pioneering brewery in Santa Rosa, California has taken another twist in ownership with the announcement that Patrick Rue, founder and former owner of The Bruery would buy the 50% stake in the company that is owned by Heineken.
