Australia’s United Malt, the world’s fourth-largest maltster, has agreed to a takeover bid from Malteries Soufflet, in a deal that could create the world’s biggest malt producer.
United Malt has processing plants in Australia, Canada, the US and the UK. Malteries Soufflet which is part of French company InVivo, operates 28 malt houses across Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa.
The deal was reportedly for AU$1.5 billion, subject to approval by Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board and United Malt’s shareholders.
