August Schell Brewing to celebrate 150th anniversary
This year marks their 150th anniversary of the August Schell brewing Company.
To celebrate, the brewery hosting a barrel full of events all year long and they’ve recently released a new sesquicentennial commemorative brew — Schell’s Hopfenmalz.
Hopfenmalz — which basically means “hops and malts” in Germanis is similar in style to that of a German Oktoberfest beer with the hopping of a pale ale.
The commemorative amber lager was officially introduced to the world on the brewery grounds in New Ulm, Minn., during Bock Fest 2010 last weekend. Part of their Anniversary Draft Series — a collection of eight single-batch brews that were intended only to be limited release — this 150th anniversary beer might just stick around for awhile.
