News Heineken Buys Remaining Shares of Dutch Craft Brewery Odeipus

Heineken has announced that it will take full control of Amsterdam-based brewer Oedipus. After buying a minority share of the craft brewery in 2019,  Heineken will now take on full ownership of the formerly independent brewer.

The Dutch brewery has bucked the trend of other global brewers who have recently been shedding ownership in acquired small breweries. It was recently announced that Constellation was selling back two craft breweries it had acquired and the original owners of Appalachian Mountain Brewery recently bought back their brewery from ABInBev.

Similar to Heineken’s acquisition of Lagunitas Brewing in California, the company purchased a portion of Oedipus in 2019 before buying full ownership.

The acquisition comes as Oedipus is set to move into a larger facility near its current location in Amsterdam-Noord next year.
