Colorado brewer looks to build new brewery on West coast
New Belgium Brewing Co. is looking at California to build a new brewery as it nears capacity at its Fort Collins plant.
The company, which experienced an 18 percent growth in 2009, is considering a second, smaller regional brewery and bottling plant to help meet demand in other states.
The Fort Collins brewery produced 583,000 barrels last year. Its capacity is 850,000 barrels.
If NBB were to go forward with plans for a new brewery, it would operate with a maximum of 250,000 barrel capacity according to the company.
