A pair of Boston area breweries, Dorchester Brewing Company and Aeronaut Brewing Company have joined forces. Dorchester’s Matt Malloy will take charge of the combined company with plans to add as many as three other regional brewers into the new entity.
The new company will be named Tasty Liquid Alliance. The Aeronaut brewing facility in Somerville will be shut down and all production moved to Dorchester’s brewery in Boston. It is becoming a common move in the industry as craft brewers attempt to increase efficiencies as the craft segment slows.
The Aeronaut tasting room in Somerville will remain open and Aeronaut co-chief executives Dan Rassi and Ronn Friedlander will remain with the new company.
Dorchester Brewing was founded in 2016 primarily as a contract brewer. The Dorchester portfolio of brands makes up less than 10 percent of its volume.
