Global brewing giant Carlsberg has purchased 20% of fellow Danish craft brewery Mikkeller, known for its distinctive marketing campaigns and sometimes controversial business approach. The deal will allow Mikkeller founder Mikkel Bjergsø to maintain controlling interest and remain as CEO.
Founded in 2006, the Mikkeller brand is sold in over 40 markets worldwide with on-premise locations in major cities such as Copenhagen, Tokyo, London, and Berlin.
The partnership will give Carlsberg a trendy craft brand to add to its portfolio. Carlsberg is sold throughout the world in all major markets.
