News Smithsonian Beer Historian is Documenting COVID-19’s Impact on Brewing

Without a doubt, the coronavirus is impacting the brewing industry more than any event since Prohibition. And beer historian Theresa McCulla is already working to document this pivotal moment.

McCulla curates the American Brewing History Initiative at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and has put a call out via Twitter for brewers to contribute artifacts that represent this time in American brewing history. She has asked brewers, bar managers, and beer fans to donate material that captures what the beer industry is currently experiencing such as COVID-related packaging and labels, menus geared toward delivery and curbside pickup, hand sanitizer and other alternative products made by breweries, and business records.
