News Making Room for Seltzers – MillerCoors Slashes Beer Brands

It’s getting a little crowded in the brand portfolios as all of the major beer suppliers add seltzers to the mix. As wholesalers push back on SKU overload, somethings gotta give.

MillerCoors has just announced that they will discontinue eleven brands, including the longtime Henry Weinhard’s Private Reserve.

“This will improve supply chain flexibility for our more profitable priority brands, enhance our innovation efforts, enable us to better focus resources and ensure dependable and on-time shipments to our distributors,” Molson Coors CEO Gavin Hattersley was quoted as saying in an Oregonian article. He added that Molson Coors will focus more on its fast-growing hard seltzers.

Other brands to be discontinued are Keystone Ice Keylightful, Icehouse Edge, Mickey’s Ice, Milwaukee’s Best Premium, Miller High Life Light, Hamm’s Special Light, Steel Reserve 211, Olde English HG 8000 and Magnum.
