Brewing Usage: Bittering
Aroma: Sharp and pungent with blackcurrant, fruit and spice characteristics
Alpha Acids: 8.0 – 10.0%
Beta Acids: 3.5 – 4.5%
Co-Humulone: 40 – 48% of alpha acids
Storage Stability: Poor
Total Oil: 2.0 – 2.4 mL/100g
Myrcene: 37 – 40% of total oil
Humulene: 29 – 31% of total oil
Caryophyllene: 7- 8% of total oil
Farnesene: <1% of total oil General Trade Perception: Mainly used as a bittering hop
Possible Substitutions: Chinook, Galena, Nugget
Typical Beer Styles: English-style Ales, Bière de Garde, Lambic,
German-style Lager, Pilsner, Saison
Additional Information: Limited acreage in the United States; one of the first hop varieties bred released by E.S. Salmon in England, often used in breeding hops varieties that followed
