News Boston Beer Reports Banner Year – Shipments up 54%
Driven by the huge growth of Truly Hard Seltzer, the Boston Beer Company reported fourth quarter 2020 net revenue of $460.9 million, up 53% from the fourth quarter of 2019. Shipments during the same period were up 54% while depletions increased by 37%.

News Boston Beer Reports Strong Qtr.3 with Shipments Up 30%
The Boston Beer Company reported third quarter 2020 net revenue of $492.8 million, an increase of $114.3 million or 30.2%, from the same period last year. Net income for the third quarter was $80.8 million, an increase of $36.0 million or 80.6% from the same period last year.

News ABInBev and Molson Coors Show Big Drop in 2nd Quarter Financial Reports
In a peek at how the global pandemic is impacting the worldwide beer market, Anheuser-Busch InBev disclosed their second quarter earnings yesterday. Global revenue declined by 17.7% in the second quarter compared to the same period last year with a decline of 12.0% year-to-date. Beer volume was down 17.0%. The worlds largest brewer showed signs of recovery, with April volumes down by 32.4%, May down by 21.4% and June down by 0.7%. Click here for a transcript of the investor call.

News Boston Beer Reports Big 2 Qtr. Results with Shipments up 40%
The pandemic has not been a crisis for everyone in the beer business. Boston Beer Company today reported second quarter 2020 net revenue of $452.1 million, an increase of $133.7 million or 42.0%, from the same period last year. Net income for the second quarter was $60.1 million, an increase of $32.3 million or 116% from the same period last year.

News ABInBev Volume Down 9.3% in First Qtr Due to Pandemic
Anheuser-Busch InBev released their 2020 first quarter earnings report and it is a stark reminder of just how rough the global pandemic has been on the beer industry. Total volume worldwide was down 9.3% and total revenue was down 5.8%. April volume was down a huge 32%.

News CBA Down 6% First Quarter
In what will likely be a long string of troubling first quarter financial reports in the brewing industry, Craft Brew Alliance reported first quarter shipments down 6% and revenue down 8%, due to “on-premise closures” according to a company financial statement released today. Kona, the company’s largest brand was down 2% in shipments while Widmer was down 26% in shipments.

News Boston Beer Continues Strong Growth
Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the second half of March, the Boston Beer Company reported a continuation of impressive growth in first quarter 2020 with a net revenue of $330.6 million, or 31% from the same period last year and an increase in shipments of 32%. Excluding the addition of the Dogfish Head brands beginning July 3, 2019, shipments increased 27.5% from the 13-week period in 2019.

News Budweiser Continues to Lose Market Share
After a disappointing year last year, Anheuser-Busch InBev announced today that they expect first-quarter earnings will drop about 10%, the sharpest drop in over a decade. Fourth-quarter net income dropped 75% to $114 million, from $456 million a year earlier and revenue was down 1.3% to $13.33 billion.

News Heineken Reports Soft Growth
Heineken reported operating profit growth at just 0.3% for the first half of 2019, missing company projections which lowered shares in the world-wide brewer more than anytime in the four years. The slow growth was blamed on increased costs for aluminum cans and poor weather in Europe.

News Boston Beer Alt Beverages Drive Impressive Growth
The Boston Beer Company reported second quarter 2019 net revenue of $318.4 million, an increase of $45.3 million or 16.6%, from the same period last year. This increase was driven by impressive sales growth over the period. Shipments increased 17% in the second quarter and have increased 23% for year-to-date through July 3rd.

News Boston Beer Drops 15% in First Qtr.
Boston Beer Company reported a 15% decrease in shipments for the last quarter, a 707,000 barrel drop in its beer, cider, tea and hard seltzer brands. The company reported a net income of $5.7 million, which was a $1.3 million decline from the same period last year.

News CBA Announces Soft 2014 Numbers
Craft Brew Alliance announced today in a preliminary financial report that the company had a net sales growth of $1.8 million for the fourth quarter, an increase of 4% over the fourth quarter in 2014, in spite of flat shipment volume. Gross profit for the fourth quarter increased by 13% to $15.5 million, and gross margin expanded by 260 basis points to 31.4%, reflecting improved pricing and material costs compared to the same period last year.

News ABI Down Slightly in Quarterly Earnings Report
Anheuser-Busch InBev announced in its quarterly earnings report yesterday that U.S. depletions were down 2.1% while overall shipments to wholesalers was up 1.2%. For the nine month period, depletions were down just about 2% and shipments were down a similar amount.
The company had revenue of $11376.00 million for the quarter which is down -7.1% compared to the same quarter last year.
The company reported that global volumes were up 1.5% in the quarter.
