News Ballast Point Brewing Will Open New San Francisco Brewery – Close Chicago Location
Kings & Convicts Brewing Co., the San Diego-headquartered owner of Ballast Point, announced yesterday that it is moving forward with a retail expansion of the 25-year-old craft brewery into Northern California. Plans to open a brewpub in San Francisco were originally announced in 2018 but later halted in 2019 by former owner Constellation Brands prior to the sale of Ballast Point to Kings & Convicts. Ballast Point San Francisco is expected to open by the end of the year and will join the craft brewery’s five Southern California locations in San Diego, Anaheim, and Long Beach.

As far back as the Stone Age, beer was a household staple for most families in England and other parts of Europe. The drink was an inexpensive way to consume and preserve grains. For the working class, beer provided an important source of nutrients, full of carbohydrates and proteins. Because the beverage was such a common part of the average person’s diet, fermenting was, for many women, one of their normal household tasks.

News St. Patrick’s Day On Premise Sales Down 21% Versus 2019
According to a report by BeerBoard, on-premise St. Patrick’s Day beer sales were down 20.9% versus 2019. The company skipped the year 2020 in its annual report because of the shutdown during last year’s St. Pat’s day due to the pandemic.

News Number of UK Breweries Increases in 2020 Despite the Pandemic

News ‘Rebuild the Guild’ IPA to Raise Money for Arizona Craft Brewers Guild
At least 22 Arizona breweries are participating in a collaboration IPA called Rebuild the Guild to support the Arizona Craft Brewers Guilds. The India Pale Ale is based on Dragoon Brewing Company head brewer Eric Green’s base recipe and sold at each of the participating breweries.

News Beer Sales in Germany Fall by 5.5% in 2020
Beer sales in Germany fell by 5.5% or 508.2 million liters in 2020 compared to the previous year, according to the Federal Statistical Office. The figures do not include alcohol-free beers and malt drinks, as well as beer imported from countries outside the European Union (EU).

City Brewing Co., the large La Crosse, Wisconsin-based company that mostly makes beer brands under contract has announced a “series of business updates” including a new investment group. The investor group includes Blue Ribbon Partners, makers of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.
