News Boston Beer Up in Q3 Despite Seltzer Downturn
The Boston Beer Company reported financial results for the third quarter and year-to-date fiscal periods ended September 25, 2021. Third quarter depletions increased 11% and third quarter shipments increased 11.2% compared to the prior year. Third quarter net revenue of $561.6 million increased 14% compared to the prior year

News Massachusetts Considers Doubling States Excise Tax on Alcohol
Massachusetts Rep. Kay Khan has introduced a bill that would double the state’s excise tax on alcohol. The taxes, she said, could net $435 million in revenue to fund public health programs, including some for substance abuse.

News 2022 World Beer Cup Registration Opens October 26
Registration for the World Beer Cup will open on October 26 and close on November 10. Presented by the Brewers Association (BA), the competition is held every two years and is open to professional breweries around the globe that meet all legal and permitting requirements for breweries in their respective country.

News Reyes Consolidation Continues – Acquires Greenco and Powers
Reyes Beer Division has officially closed on its acquisition of Greenco Beverage Co. in Greenville, S.C. according to an article in Craft Brewing Business. The new operations will now do business as Greenco Distributing. The acquisition adds approximately 2.8 million cases and includes brands from as Molson Coors, Constellation, Yuengling, Heineken, Diageo, Boston Beer, Mark Anthony Brands, Lagunitas and Sweetwater.

News Scofflaw Brewing Forms ‘Shared Services Platform’ Company to Partner with Other Breweries

Scofflaw Brewing Company announced yesterday the creation of a shared services platform called IndieBrew, short for Independent Brewers Union. IndieBrew was created to help independent breweries succeed as market conditions present increasing costs and challenges.
