Today is ‘Day of Action’ in D.C. to Extend CBMTRA
The Brewers Association, state brewers guilds, and other beverage alcohol trade associations are joining together today for a national Day of Action to urge Congress to pass the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act (CBMTRA) and make the current federal excise tax rates permanent.
The current excise tax rates, which went into effect in 2018, have allowed small and independent breweries across the country to reinvest in their businesses and hire new employees. They are set to expire on Dec. 31, 2020, unless Congress acts. If the current rates expire, most breweries across the U.S. will see their excise tax rates increase by 100%.
