SABMiller Down in US, Up in Global Sales

News »  Quarterly Financial Reportsposted Jul 26th 10:59:41PM by Tom McCormick

SABMiller, the second largest brewer in the world, reported an increase of 3% in beer volume in the first three months of its financial year.

The strongest markets were in Africa and Europe.

The US did not fare so well. In the company’s first fiscal quarter which ended June 30th, domestic US depletions were down 1.2%, while shipments were down 1.7%. Once again, the company’s high end Tenth and Blake products were the bright spot up double digits.

Emerging markets made up around 75% of the company’s earnings last year.
