Reyes on the Move with Another Acquisition in Calif.

April 20, 2020

Reyes Beverage Group has acquired yet another wholesaler in California, its third acquisition this year alone. The purchase of Bay Area Beverage, a MillerCoors and Constellation house in the East Bay follows on the heels of the acquisition of Saccani Beverage in Sacramento and Claypool Beverage in Southern California earlier this year. Last year Reyes also picked up DBI, W.A Thompson and Central Coast.

The common denominator in all but one of these acquisitions is Constellation Brands. Many in the industry have speculated that it is Reyes’ intent to garner the Constellation Brands statewide. A couple of larger acquisitions would be required to do that, but it seems within reach given the string of multiple acquisitions they have made in a short period of time. Closing the Bay Area Beverage deal in the midst of an economic collapse would also demonstrate a long-term strategy play.
