New Wyeast QC Course

June 4, 2007

“Intro” course to be conducted during Oregon Brewers Festival

Wyeast Laboratories will be presenting a one day class on quality control for small breweries on July 27, 2007.

The class, titled “Introduction to Small Brewery QC Procedures and Management,” will be conducted on-site at Wyeast Laboratories’ facility near Hood River, Oregon. The fee for the class will be $75 which includes lunch. Class size will be limited to the first 15 paid enrollees.

Wyeast’s “Introduction to Small Brewery QC Procedures and Management” class is timed to coincide with the Oregon Brewers Festival, which is being held that week in Portland, Oregon.

Curriculum will be designed for brewers with on-the-job experience, but little or no formal brewing or science education. The class will focus on practical procedures for effective QC in a brewery where lab space and equipment is lacking, and the brewer may be the only production staff member.

The class will include hands-on lab work as well as classroom theory, and instruction on interpretation of lab results, log-keeping and corrective action. Participating brewers will return to their breweries with a small start up kit of lab supplies and the knowledge necessary to set up a basic quality control/quality assurance program for their brewery.

For additional details regarding the class, directions to Wyeast Laboratories, travel and lodging recommendations, please contact Mike Boler at Wyeast Laboratories: Mikeb@wyeastlab.com or (888) WYEAST-1.
