Legacy Gears Up for New Brewery

April 27, 2006

Company to raise funds to finance new 10,000 square foot brewery

Legacy Brewing Company of Reading, Pennsylvania is seeking funding of $1.9 million to finance the construction of a new 10,000 square foot brewery,

The new plant would include a 25 bbl brewhouse and beer garden and is slated to open in spring of 2007.

Legacy was founded in May 2003 by renting a fermenter and brewing time at the since-closed Ortlieb Brewery in Pottstown to recreate Steam Horse Lager and Duke of Ale. The company moved into the former brewery of Neversink (and later Fancy Pants) in Reading September 2004 and have phased out the Pretzel City brews to create a distinctive Legacy portfolio which includes Reading Pilsner, Hedonism Ale, Midnight Wit and Euphoria Golden Ale. Hedonism and Midnight Wit are both also contract brewed and bottled at Appalachian Brewing Company.

The company expects to produce and sell 4,000 barrels this year.
