Craft breweries face a complex, highly specific regulatory environment on a daily basis. Designed for brewers and attorneys, the goal of this course is to teach you how to successfully and effectively launch a brewery within the laws encompassing the craft beer industry. Through a mixture of lecture and interactive group activities, you will learn the justifications for regulating craft beer, tools for navigating the regulatory system and an understanding of current policy issues such as market fairness and legislative efforts. By the end of the course, you will be able to successfully navigate the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act and attendant regulations.

Instructors

Daniel Croxall, J.D., M.A., teaches the world’s first craft beer law class at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. Prior to teaching full-time, Croxall owned his own law firm, representing craft breweries in California and offering full service representation from start-up to in-house counsel. His scholarship focuses on laws and regulations impacting craft breweries, including regulatory compliance, constitutional law, intellectual property, entity formation and more.
