Join the QC2 lab as we grab a beer with Jackie O’s in Athens, Ohio and get a sneak peek into their QC program. We’ll learn what the key pieces to their programs are, learn a bit about the history of how their program got started, and have time for lots of questions!

Ryanne Oldham is the Director of Lab Operations at Jackie O’s Brewery in Athens, OH. Ryanne began working at Jackie O’s in 2011 at the end of her first year of college as a food server at Jackie O’s restaurant and later moved into bartending. After graduating with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 2014, in 2015 Ryanne began working at the production facility to help start the lab, where she’s remained since. Ryanne is currently working towards earning a Master’s degree in Biochemistry and her research is focused on using PCR to detect beer microbes, specifically L. acetotolerans. In her free time, Ryanne enjoys spending time with her many animals and enjoying the beautiful nature and hills of Southeast Ohio.

Jarret Causby is the Lead Lab Technician at Jackie O’s. Jarret has been working at Jackie O’s for about two and a half years, where he does a lot of media preparation, routine plating, yeast monitoring, analytical chemistry, and recently began running Jackie O’s sensory program. Jarret graduated from Ohio University in 2018 with a B.S. in Chemistry. In his free time, Jarret enjoys cooking, playing video games and exercising.
