FS: 15BBL 2013 PBST Direct Fire Brew House 40k ( $40,000 )New
2013 PBST 15BBL Direct fire two vessel Brew House
We purchased this brew house used from Big Storm Brewing in 2016 and have brewed roughly 8000 BBLS on it since commissioning it then. It is a great work horse. It is not the shiniest, prettiest brewhouse but when push comes to shove it can make decent liquid. We are looking to find a buyer for this before it is decommissioned so that the new owner can come and brew on it before taking it home.
Those that have brewed with us or seen it in action know that this brewhouse has some quarks. Most of which could be massaged out with someone who has some savvy and time to dedicate to it. All of which I would be doing to it ourselves if we had not decided to move to a new Brewhouse setup. The control panel on this system was originally set up to be operated with an Ipad. This, I have never seen and when we got it all of the valves on it were manual so the features that this thing was supposed to be able to do are not possible on it in its current configuration. The control panel has manual controls on it now, and some others that have been used over the years prior to us getting it. It functions but is not the prettiest. The kettle does not drain very well. It would be possible to add a new drain to the kettle just not something we have gotten around to yet. We let it drain out as much as possible and then shop vac out the remaining liquid. It works but is not ideal. An afternoon with a qualified welder could probably fix that pretty easily.
This brew house has been dialed in to produce consistent beer in styles ranging from Sour beer, IPA, Lager and Stout. Core beers for use are really consistent with not many hiccups. We have developed a pretty solid brewing routine that works on it. When we bought it the false bottoms were the older style bolt down, single piece of stainless steel with slits cut in it. They were worn out and did not work very well. We have since installed a new False bottom system that is Wedge wire and removable. The rakes have the ability to raise and lower which make it easier to grain out.
New false bottoms installed two years ago. Brew house efficiency ranges from 82-87% on all core recipes.
Rakes work and move forward and reverse, and go up and down.
We installed a grant after using it without one for a month or two.
Mash tun has its own pump and can transfer from MT to Kettle, CIP or recirculate for vorlauf
We do not have a mill but this Mash Tun does have a grist hydrator that we currently do not use.
Kettle has its own pump and can recirculate for whirlpool, transfer to Heat EX or run CIP.
Boils pretty well and comes to a boil relatively quickly.
Dual Stage heat exchanger, we are using cold liquor and city water to knock out.
Can run out a full 15BBL batch at 67 degrees in 30-45 mins.
Has been broken down and cleaned thoroughly yearly.
This system works and is making good beer but is not a show piece. The trade off is the price. It is a very affordable entry into a 15BBL system. We are asking 40k for it. It is an extremely reasonable price for a system this size. You know if you have priced them. There are some upgrades that could be done pretty reasonably and I have planned them out and priced them and would be willing to work with the new owner to implement. These plans include new rakes and a new control panel with some added controls over the rakes and a few other things. We could discuss this if interested at the time of purchase.
Looking to find a buyer and have a deposit made before it is decommissioned. You can email me at email@example.com or 813-766-666five if you would like to come see it or if you have any questions. Pictures available if wanted. Too large to upload.
