Julie Verratti, owner and operator of Denizens Brewing Co. in Maryland, was appointed to serve as an associate administrator of field operations for the U.S. Small Business Administration under President Joe Biden. She will oversee nearly 80 offices responsible for providing services to the country’s small businesses starting March 1.
Verratti opened Denizens Brewing in 2014 along with Emily Bruno and Jeff Ramirez. It is the state’s only majority-woman owned brewery. Denizens expanded in 2019 with the completion of a large new production facility and taproom and in addition to onsite sales at its two taprooms, the company cans and bottles over a dozen varieties of beer and hard seltzer.
Prior to co-founding Denizens, she was a Presidential Management Fellow and Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Small Business Administration where she focused on the Affordable Care Act, veteran’s entrepreneurship, women’s business ownership, and local economic development policies. She has also served on the Board of Directors for the Brewers Association.
