Brewer Governor?

January 20, 2010

One of our own announces run for Colorado governorship

One of our own, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, the founder and former owner of Wynkoop Brewery announced his gubernatorial earlier this week.

Hickenlooper said his agenda is going to be about jobs, and that he knows first-hand what a souring economy can do. His geology career that took him around the state in the 1980s ended with the crash of industry back then. The packed news conference on the west side of the state Capitol attracted top Democratic leaders and Denver movers and shakers.

The mayor quickly drew endorsements from some of the state’s top Democratic leaders, including most of the state’s congressional delegation.

President Barack Obama reportedly called Hickenlooper last Friday to encourage him to run.

    Fantastic.

Whenever I pee in the snow, I will spell ‘John’ with my stream.

    Russel would be proud.

    Pax.

Not really a “Brewing” Governor. He cut all ties to the brewery a little while back. I think it was 2008 around the time of the GABF. I wondered at the time if that was the first indication of further political aspirations.

Of course, candidate to actual Governor is a long road, especially with an endorsement from Obama! 😮

Maybe he can help Obama detox that Bud Light out of his system and with time he could be rehabilitated and start drinking (American) Craft Beer. 😀
