News Larry Bell to Open Beer Memorabilia Museum Along with Collection of History Books & Jazz Artifacts

Larry Bell, craft beer pioneer who founded Bell’s Brewery in 1985, is set to convert a warehouse he currently owns in Kalamazoo, Michigan to become a display hall for his collection of brewery industry memorabilia.

Bell, who sold his brewery last December to Australian brewing conglomerate Lion Little World Beverages, has also just recently purchased a 46,000 square foot building in Kalamazoo which he intends to house the more than 40,000 books he acquired from the collection of historian Larry Massie and a vast collection of jazz artifacts.

Bell had previously planned on constructing a new building to house all the projects, but when a 26,000-square-foot building became available near downtown Kalamazoo, Bell decided to purchase the building.

Hope he digitizes the book collection and makes the brewing collection a digital experience because otherwise, you’re just a hoarder with money. I love a great curated collection of artifacts, especially with a background in archaeology, but I haven’t been to Kalamazoo in over 20 years, and don’t see me making a trip any time soon. He has the type of money now that makes a great modern collection accessible to the world.
