News Doyle to Keynote CBC

Co-founder of Harpoon Brewery will address Craft Brewers Conference in April

Keynote speaker, Richard Doyle will open the Brewers Association’s 25th annual Craft Brewers Conference in San Diego, California on April 15th, 2008. More than 1,600 of attendees are expected at this year’s CBC.

Doyle, a graduate from Harvard Business School, was a co-founder of The Harpoon Brewery in 1986. He has been an integral part in the success of Harpoon Brewery and anticipates producing 120,000 barrels of beer this year. Doyle is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Brewers Association.

“Rich Doyle was a pioneer of craft brewing in the East and remains a leader for small brewers to continue their progress toward ensuring fair legislative and regulatory treatment. He understands the challenges that craft brewers face with increasing malt, hop, glass, stainless steel and energy costs and the business and public relations dynamics that these issues create. I look forward to a great speech touching on all of these issues” stated Paul Gatza, Brewers Association Director.

Also at the 2008 CBC is the Brewers Association’s World Beer Cup, an international beer competition held every two years will be held in conjunction with this conference in San Diego. Awards for this competition will be presented on Saturday evening, April 19th at the World Beer Cup Gala Awards Ceremony and Dinner.
