Rehr to Leave NBWA

High profile leader announces departure

National Beer Wholesalers Association President David Rehr announced that he will be departing the NBWA for the top spot at the National Association of Broadcasters.

Rehr, 46, has been with the NBWA for 13 years, taking over the duties as president in 2000. He previously served as senior vice president of Government Affairs for NBWA.

Since assuming the leadership role for the NBWA, Rehr has been a high profile and prolific leader. He has staunchly fought any and all groups that oppose the interests of beer distributors, most notably the neo-prohibitionist groups. He had a particularly strong and easy presence in the halls of Congress, and may have had the greatest impact of any past NBWA president

Rehr holds a Ph.D. in Economics from George Mason University and an M.A. in Economics from George Mason and a B.S. in Business Administration from Saint John’s University.

NBWA Board Chair Phillip A. Short, president and CEO of P.A. Short Distributing Co. in Hollins, Virginia, released the following statement:

“David K. Rehr has provided great leadership to the National Beer Wholesalers Association during his tenure over the past 13 years, and the members of NBWA wish him all the best in his new capacity as president and CEO of the National Association of Broadcasters.”
