News AB InBev Reports Increase in Revenue Despite Sales Decline

Anheuser-Busch InBev reported an increase in global revenue of 2.6% in the first quarter of 2024, despite a dramatic decline in sales in the U.S. Revenue in the U.S. market fell 9.1% in the first quarter and sales to U.S. retailers dropped 13.7%.

The dramatic decline in the U.S. market was due primarily to the consumer boycott of Bud Light which began in April of last year. This is the last quarterly financial report that will compare to sales prior to the boycott.

Globally, the Belgium-based brewer reported revenue of $14.55 billion despite total beverage volumes down by 0.6% for the quarter, with a 1.3% decline in its owned-beer volumes.

In the U.S., Bud Light fell from its longtime position as the number one selling beer in the U.S. last year, replaced by Constellation Brand’s Modela Especial.
