Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day Supports Education Scholarships

The Pink Boots Society, an international non-profit organization dedicated to providing education and opportunities for women in the brewing industry, has partnered with Yakima Chief Hops to create an annual hop blend, Pink Boots Blend, in celebration and support of Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day.

Collaboration Brew Day will take place on March 8, 2020, aligning with International Women’s Day and its mission in championing women at work. Professional brewers and homebrewers alike will participate in the day at breweries around the world. Close to 300 breweries participated in last year’s event.

Registration for the event is open on the Pink Boots Society website (pinkbootssociety.org). Pink Boots Blend is available to order for all commercial brewers.

For every pound of the blend sold, three dollars is donated back to Pink Boots Society. The donated funds contribute to Pink Boots Society’s robust scholarship program, used to elevate their mission to assist, inspire, and encourage members to advance their careers through education. Since 2018, more than $140,000 has been contributed to the fund. This year, for the first time, Yakima Chief is offering 2oz packets for homebrewers. One dollar from each packet will be donated back to Pink Boots Society, giving homebrewers and other enthusiasts an opportunity to support women in beer.

“We rely on this fundraiser to build out our scholarship program. We want to support a wide range of opportunities for our diverse membership, and provide them with education so they can beef up their resumes and go into the workforce with more confidence,” says Cat Wiest, Pink Boots Society Board member and R&D Brewer at Pelican Brewing Company.
