Old Dominion Sale Falls Through

The sale of Old Dominion Brewing Company to the management staff appears to have fallen through and may be replaced by a sale to Anheuser-Busch.

The sale, from founder Jerry Bailey to his management team, Terry Fife and Kip Olson was first announced last march.

Bailey confirmed this week to local media that the sale was called off but he wouyld not confirm or deny rumors that he had decided to sell the business to a joint venture of A-B and Annapolis-based Fordham Brewing Company.

According to a news story in Times Community newspaper, Erin Brunst of Fordham Brewing, said simply, “No comment.”

Old Dominion, host of the popular annual Old Dominion Beer Festival in the summer, was founded by Bailey in 1989, and was the Washington, D.C., area’s first micro-brewery. The brewery produces 31 beers and three soft drinks, and distributes them regionally.
