News Odell’s to Expand into Wine

Odell Brewing, the pioneering Colorado brewery, is looking around the alcohol beverage corner and expanding into winemaking.

The 30-year-old brewery announced plans to open a wine cellar and tasting room adjacent to its Fort Collins location.

“We’ve always been curious and that curiosity has kept us growing and innovating over the last 30 years,” Odell’s technical director Eli Kolodny said in a press release. “Now we’re ready to get outside our comfort zone again because that’s where the magic happens.”

As sales of craft beer slow and the market becomes hyper-competitive, more and more breweries are expanding into producing wine or spirits. State laws vary of the regulatory structure of combined production, but most states allow some sort of co-ownership and in some cases production on shared licenses.
