News Sierra Nevada Gets Strainge with New Kombucha

Sierra Nevada Brewing, known for its rigid conformity to making authentic and world-class quality beer has jumped into the alternative beer field. Not with a hard seltzer, but with an alcoholic kombucha.

Strainge Beast Hard Kombucha. Weighing in at 7.0% abv is the company’s first ever non-beer release. It combines live cultures with a blend of organic black and green tea with ginger, lemon and hibiscus, and is tart and fizzy with a bright pink color, according to a press release.

“As long as the product has providence and soul, I’m good with it,” said founder Ken Grossman in a press release. “Like beer, kombucha allows you to become an alchemist, morphing natural, raw ingredients into something amazing to drink,” Grossman said, noting he is a long-time kombucha drinker.

Strainge Beast on start on draft in selected test markets and then be released in cans in August.
