Sierra Nevada Brewing set out to do a big “launch” of its new Big Little Thing Imperial IPA and set a Guinness Book world record in the process.
The company constructed a large catapult called a trebuchet that hurled a half barrel keg of Big Little Thing across an open field at the Chico, CA brewery. The official title of the world record is “the furthest distance thrown by a trebuchet with a projectile weight of 20kg and over.” In this case, the keg of beer was the “projectile.”
