Mass. Bay Brewing Company, the parent company of Harpoon Brewery has reached an agreement to acquire Long Trail Brewing.
Long trail is a pioneering Northeast brewery that was founded in 1989 in Bridgewater Corners, Vermont by Andy Pherson. Long Trail also owns and operates Otter Creek Brewing in Middlebury, VT which it bought about 10 years ago. Long Tail is currently owned by Fulham and Co., a Massachusetts-based private equity firm
Mass. Bay will sell the Middlebury brewery to WhistlePig, a whiskey distillery based in Shoreham, Vermont and move production of the Otter Creek brands to the Harpoon brewery in Windsor, Vermont.
The employee-owned Harpoon was founded by Dan Kenary in 1986 and has locations in Boston, Massachusetts, and Windsor, Vermont.
