News Modern Times Founder Steps Down

Jacob McKean, founder and CEO of Modern Times Beer of San Diego said in a company website post that he will step down in the wake of multiple accusations by employees that the company was unresponsive to complaints of a hostile workplace environment.

The accusations were part of the growing movement in the industry to shed light on longstanding and widespread discrimination, sexual harassment and misconduct in the industry.

In other developments, the Brewers Association posted a statement today regarding the movement. The BA said that they would be teaming up with the American Society of Brewing Chemists (ASBC), the Craft Beer HR Professionals Group (CBHR), the Master Brewers Association of the Americas (MBAA), and the Pink Boots Society (PBS) to form a coalition “to explore how our organizations can collaborate to provide the resources and support that businesses and individuals in the brewing industry need to create and maintain a culture of safety, inclusion, and equity.” Read the full statement here.
