News Modern Times Auction in Disarray as Winning Bid to Brewery X is Disputed

It seemed like a done-deal. Last Friday, California’s Brewery X appeared to be the winning bidder for San Diego’s Modern Times Beer, coming in with a $20 million bid.

But today it was announced that a company associated with North Carolina-based TRU Colors Brewery has filed an objection to the outcome of the June 17 auction.

In the court filing, lawyers representing a company with ties to TRU Colors objected to the designation of Brewery X as the winning bid, arguing that it actually submitted a higher offer.

According to an article in Good Beer Hunting, Judge John C. Gastelum of the California Superior Court in Orange County said the “court would review the complaint and additional documents,” and that “there is no timeframe for when a decision will be made.”
