Brewery still awaiting word on structural integrity of packing room

As F.X. Matt Brewing Co. officials are awaiting word on whether the fire-damaged second floor where canning and bottling took place is salvageable, but the company is continuing its marketing efforts to reconnect consumers to its beers.

Brewery officials were concerned that because the Saranac brand wasn’t as plentiful as it was before the fire, they hoped to keep it in the forefront of customers’ minds.

The brewery had stopped producing beer for about a month, but wholesalers had a well-stocked inventory of the Saranac beers.

A fire destroyed the second floor of a brewery processing building in May and canning operations resumed about a month after the fire.

High Falls Brewing Co. in Rochester continues to can Saranac products.
