Never Good to Have Your Name in a Pandemic Virus
5W Public Relations, one of the top 15 independently-owned PR agencies in the U.S., has conducted a survey of over 700 beer drinkers in the U.S. regarding their opinions about the Corona beer brand, as a result of the deadly coronavirus that’s spreading around the world.
5WPR’s survey found that 38% of beer-drinking Americans would not buy Corona under any circumstances now. Among those who said they usually drink Corona, only 4% said they would stop drinking Corona, but 14% said they wouldn’t order Corona in a public venue and 16% of beer drinking Americans were confused about whether Corona beer is related to the coronavirus.
Time will soon tell in scan data, but it appears the virus may have an impact on the top-selling import.
Given the fact that the above referenced bogus survey is being used to make Americans look stupid, here is the response from Constellation Brands CEO: “Actually, “sales are up 5%,” says the company.”
The CEO Behind Corona Just Responded to Claims That Coronavirus Is Hurting Beer Sales. It’s a Lesson in Emotional Intelligence
Constellation Brands, which owns Corona, just released a statement fighting the notion that recent events have negatively affected the brand. In fact, the company claims sales are actually up 5% in the U.S. over the latest four week period, nearly doubling the 52-week trend for the brand.
