News MillerCoors to Open Second Blue Moon Brewery

“In 1995 a young brewer released a cloudy, Belgian-style wheat beer from Blue Moon Brewing Company at the SandLot, a small brewery inside Coors Field.”

So states a press release that hit the news wires today. A more accurate statement would be; “in 1995, Coors Brewing Company opened up a small brewery inside Coors Field called Blue Moon Brewing Company.”

This year marks MillerCoors specialty craft brand Blue Moon’s 20th anniversary. And the company has announced it will now build another brewery.

“We just locked-down a prime location in the heart of Denver’s rapidly growing RiNo Art District,” said Keith Villa, head brewmaster at MillerCoors’ Blue Moon Brewing Company.

This new brewery will act as a pilot breweryand will include a tasting room, tours and indoor and outdoor space for events. The new Blue Moon brewery in RiNo is tentatively slated to open its doors in 2016. I wonder if there will be any reference to the parent company at the new brewery. Probably not. There was no reference in the press release.
