MillerCoors Sued for Blue Moon “Deception”

A class action lawsuit was filed last week in a San Diego state court alleging that MillerCoors is deceiving consumers by falsely portraying Blue Moon as “artfully crafted,” when in fact it’s brewed by a global beer company.

The suite further states that the company hides the MillerCoors affiliation under various fake entities and misleads consumers into paying more via omission of the MillerCoors brand. The claim goes on to state that the “defendant’s business practices are immoral, unethical, oppressive, and unscrupulous, and cause substantial injury to consumers, including Plaintiff and the other members of the Class.”

MillerCoors is not alone. There have been dozens of class action lawsuits, filed in the past couple of years against many alcohol beverage brands for similar “deception” claims. These are mostly winding their way through the court system.

MillerCoors released a statement saying that,“MillerCoors is tremendously proud of Blue Moon and has always embraced our ownership and support of this wonderful brand. The class action filed against MillerCoors in California is without merit and contradicted by Blue Moon Brewing Company’s 20-year history of brewing creative beers of the highest quality,”
The lawsuit was filed by the Clark and Treglio law firm in San Diego on behalf of defendant Evan Parent.
