News Heineken Names New Marketing Chief

Heineken USA announced the promotion of Ken Kunze to vice president of marketing. He succeeds longtime CMO Steve Davis, who left the company in July.

A start date has not yet been determined for Kunze, who has been general manager of Heineken’s Los Angeles-based Western regional business since 2003. From 1997 to 2003, he was brand director of Heineken.

Kunze will relocate to the White Plains, N.Y., headquarters of Heineken USA and report to Frans van der Minne until October, when Andy Thomas succeeds van der Minne as president and CEO of Heineken USA.

“We are all very pleased that Ken has accepted this new challenge for Heineken USA,” said van der Minne, in a statement. “He brings to his new position not only deep marketing credentials, but also strong leadership skills and an acute awareness of the importance of integrating marketing and sales activities at the local market level.”

The company spent $75 million in U.S. media on Heineken and its other brands including Amstel Light, Dos Equis and Murphy’s Stout.
