Beer production in Mexico was halted more than a month ago as health officials declared brewing a “non-essential” activity. Since then, beer has become almost impossible to buy in Mexico.

While Heineken has paused brewing in Mexico, Constellation continues to brew for the U.S. market at a reduced capacity. How much beer Constellation is making and importing to the U.S. remains unclear and shortages are possible in the near future according to an article in the Chicago Tribune.

Mexican imports are among the top selling beer brands in the U.S. and a shortage could mean an opportunity for other imports and craft brands.
