News Bill to Lower Threshold for Drunk Driving Gains Traction in Hawaii

A legislative bill to lower the blood-alcohol threshold for drunken driving in Hawaii has cleared a key Senate committee vote and seems to be gaining traction towards passage of the measure.

Senate Bill 754 would reduce the blood-alcohol content level for being arrested and charged with driving under the influence of an intoxicant from 0.08% to 0.05%.

The bill will now be heard on the Assembly side before going to a floor vote.
