News Kona Beer Class Action Settlement Reached

Beer consumers will be able to file a claim for up to $20 from a Kona Beer class action settlement resolving claims that the beer was not actually made in Hawaii.

The settlement covers purchases made between February 28, 2013 and June 14, 2019 for any package and style of Kona beer.

The class action lawsuit (Broomfield v. Craft Brew Alliance, Inc.,) was filed in April 2017 and claimed that Kona Brewing Company used deceptive marketing and false statements to portray that the beer was brewed in Hawaii. Kona beer is owned by the Craft Brew Alliance and is brewed at one of their breweries on the mainland.

Consumers have until October 7th, 2019 to file a claim will be able to claim up to $20 with proof of purchase and up to $10 without proof of purchase. The claim form is here.
